State Director of Instruction (SDI)

Overall Responsibility

The SDI has the responsibility of following the national guidelines in developing and conducting courses, in-service training (recertifications) for referees, as well as, the continued training and development of current state referee instructors.

Key Areas of Responsibility

Is the link and interpreter between the National and State associations by instructing and training on how to define, implement, and interpret the laws on a case by case basis.

Develops, plans, and administers course specific materials, including on-line content, to maintain a high level of instruction.

Researches technological improvements of aids and materials and how they are presented/instructed (define, purchase, and make available best teaching tools)

Manages the instructional budget, identifying & booking locations for all instructional courses. Assigns instructors all courses while budgeting available resources. Sets dates for course, training, and recertification sessions to ensure sufficient opportunity for all referees to meet annual requirements and increase proficiency.

Recruits, trains, and develops instructors as needed to meet state requirements.

Consults with

State Referee Administrator and the Massachusetts State Referee Committee

Term

The SDI shall be appointed for a specified two (2) year term and may be reappointed.
