Sadly we report the death of Mr. Martin J. Gaffney, Sr. of Leominster, MA on Sunday, March 27.
He will be missed on the field as a referee.
He will be missed at League Meetings.
He will be missed at MTOC.
He will be missed as a friend.
Marty was a manufactures representative for Soccer Wholesale Co. of Georgia, a volunteer for many years as a coach for Sterling Youth Soccer, and a licensed limousine driver for Donahue Limousine Services in Leominster.
His passion for the sport of soccer led him to be a volunteer as a coach for various youth soccer teams. He also was a referee with the Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association.
He was born on December 27, 1941 in Newark, NJ, the son of Martin J. and Elizabeth Lynch Gaffney. He lived in Newark, NJ until 1974 when his employment with Grossett and Dunlop Publishers allowed him to relocate to Sterling where he chose to raise his family.
